Michael Oliveira vs. Oban Elliott

UFC Fight Night · August 1, 2026 · Belgrade Arena

Result

Michael Oliveira def. Oban Elliott TKO (punches), R1 1:49

The hype held up under pressure. Oliveira dropped Elliott with a stiff right hand almost immediately, and when the Welshman went to his fallback plan — takedowns — the Brazilian stuffed every entry, just as the pre-fight read worried he might. A clean one-two floored Elliott a second time, and Oliveira finished him on the canvas at 1:49. Elliott's grind-it-out path never got started, Oliveira stays perfect at 11-0, and Elliott has now lost three straight.

The breakdown below was written before the fight.

What kind of fight is this?Power vs. gritFinish likelihood: High

Oliveira's length, volume, and one-shot power make him dangerous every second he is upright, and Elliott has historically been hittable early in fights. Elliott's path is clear: weather the opening storm, close distance, and turn this into a grinding clinch-and-wrestle fight that saps the debutant's legs. The problem is that Elliott's takedown accuracy is modest and Oliveira has yet to be taken down at this level. If Elliott can't get it to the fence quickly, expect the Brazilian's hands to find the target inside two rounds.

A classic hype-versus-proof matchup. Oliveira is the undefeated debutant with outrageous numbers — over eight significant strikes landed per minute and nine knockouts in ten fights — but he has never faced UFC-level opposition. Elliott has fought five times in the promotion and knows how to survive rough patches, grind opponents against the fence, and drag fights into deep water where a finisher's cardio gets tested. The concern for Elliott is that his last two opponents both handled him, and Oliveira hits harder than either. The concern for Oliveira is everything he hasn't been asked to prove yet.

Michael Oliveira

PQD

Michael Oliveira is a former Brazilian Army paratrooper from Rio de Janeiro — his nickname PQD comes from 'paraquedista' — who has knocked out 9 of his 10 professional opponents. He tore through Brazil's LFA circuit before earning a UFC contract with a second-round finish of Victor Valenzuela on the Contender Series last October. At 6'1" with a 78-and-a-half-inch reach, he pairs rare length for the division with enormous punching output. He makes his official UFC debut in Belgrade still undefeated.

Oban Elliott

The Welsh Gangster

Oban Elliott fought his way up through Cage Warriors in Wales before winning a UFC contract on the Contender Series in 2023. He opened his UFC run with three straight wins in 2024, capping the year with a third-round knockout of Bassil Hafez at Madison Square Garden. Since then the wheels have wobbled: a shutout decision loss to debuting Seokhyeon Ko in Baku, then a submission loss to Jonathan Micallef in January. Known for relentless pace and toughness, he arrives in Belgrade badly needing to stop a two-fight skid.
