Bogdan Grad vs. Dennis Buzukja
UFC Fight Night · August 1, 2026 · Belgrade Arena
Bogdan Grad def. Dennis Buzukja — Submission (arm-triangle choke), R2 4:33
Grad committed to the grind the pre-fight read said he needed, and it worked. He dominated the first round, getting the fight down and unloading from mount, then locked up an arm-triangle choke in the second, with the stoppage coming at 4:33. There was a wrinkle: Buzukja appeared to tap on Grad's leg, but controversy followed over whether he was tapping or trying to control the leg. Either way, Grad snapped his two-fight skid and Buzukja's slide reached three.
The breakdown below was written before the fight.
Desperation fights between finishers tend to deliver, and both of these men have shown they can be hurt. Buzukja should have the edge in open space, where his boxing is cleaner and Grad's defensive lapses have been punished before. But Grad's willingness to chain takedowns changes the math — if he blends his wrestling early instead of brawling, he can drain Buzukja's legs and take over. Expect Grad to force the grind and Buzukja to make him pay in the exchanges; the fight likely swings on whether Buzukja can stay upright through fifteen minutes.
The Matchup
Both men are coming off knockout losses and fighting like their jobs depend on it, because they probably do. Stylistically it is a clean split: Buzukja is the crisper boxer with the tighter combinations, while Grad brings rougher pressure and a takedown-heavy attack that Buzukja's 75 percent takedown defense will be tested by all night. Grad lands more accurately but also absorbs more than five significant strikes a minute, which is a real problem against a puncher with five knockout wins. Whoever imposes the location of this fight — pocket boxing or the fence-and-mat grind — likely takes it.

Bogdan Grad
“The Unleashed”
Bogdan Grad fights out of Vienna's ETTL Bros MMA and earned his UFC contract the hard way — winning a Contender Series slugfest in 2024 after losing his first shot the year before. Nine of his fifteen wins have come by knockout, but he pairs that power with a heavy takedown game, averaging over four takedowns per fifteen minutes in the Octagon. He opened his UFC run with a knockout of Lucas Alexander before dropping two straight, including a quick stoppage loss to Luke Riley last November. At 30, he is fighting to keep his roster spot and reset his momentum.

Dennis Buzukja
“The Great”
Dennis Buzukja is a New York-bred boxer out of the famed Serra-Longo Fight Team, the gym that produced Matt Serra and Aljamain Sterling. His signature UFC moment came in March 2024, when he stepped in on short notice and knocked out Connor Matthews in the third round. Since then the results have gone the wrong way — a split-decision loss to Francis Marshall and a first-round knockout loss to Marcio Barbosa in April. At 28, with sharp hands and a 75 percent takedown defense rate, he has the tools to turn things around but badly needs a win to do it.
