The debut wasn't as clean as Hussein's finishing record suggested it would be — Gibson threatened with submission attempts in the early ground exchanges and created genuinely dangerous moments. But Hussein hurt him early in round two and dominated positionally from there, and in the third he got back on top, landed strikes along the fence, and squeezed out the arm-triangle choke at 3:07. Hussein's finishing rate is hard to argue with — 14 of 15 wins inside the distance, and he tends to strike first and snatch the neck the moment his opponent reacts. Gibson is savvy enough to survive early if he stays disciplined, and his boxing could trouble a debutant riding adrenaline. But Gibson's recent submission loss and fading durability suggest that the first serious scramble favors the Finn. Expect Hussein to hunt a choke early and often; if Gibson survives into the later rounds, his experience makes it interesting, but the likelier ending is Hussein finding a neck or a stoppage somewhere inside three rounds.

The UFC has handed its newest Finnish prospect a classic gatekeeper test. Hussein is a finishing machine whose game is built on chokes — guillotines, rear-naked chokes, arm triangles — usually set up within the first five minutes. Gibson is the far more experienced man and a legitimate wrestler, but that cuts both ways: wrestling exchanges against Hussein mean neck exposure, which is exactly how Da'Mon Blackshear submitted Gibson in 2025. Gibson's best route is to keep this a boxing match, use his four-inch reach edge, and drag the debutant into deep water, where prospects often crack. The 21-day-turnaround question is age: Gibson has now been stopped in two straight, and 38-year-old bantamweights rarely get more durable.

Abdul Hussein
“King”
Hussein was born in Beirut to a Palestinian refugee family that immigrated to Finland when he was a child, and he grew into one of Europe's best bantamweight prospects — an IMMAF world champion in 2016 before turning pro. Fourteen of his fifteen wins are finishes, including nine submissions, most of them chokes locked up inside a round. His only losses came early in his career, including a 2021 decision against future UFC standout Muhammad Mokaev, and he arrives on an eight-fight winning streak built across UAE Warriors and the Finnish circuit. Now 28, he finally makes his UFC debut, and he closed out 2025 by knocking out longtime veteran Tyson Nam.

“The Renegade”
Gibson is one of the sport's great second-act stories — a former high school history teacher from Visalia, California, who fought in the UFC in 2014-15, spent nearly a decade winning regional titles, then battled back to the big show as a Team McGregor finalist on The Ultimate Fighter 31. A two-time JUCO All-American wrestler who pairs that base with crisp boxing, he owns 22 career wins with a near-even split of knockouts, submissions, and decisions. His second UFC run has been up and down: a first-round arm-triangle of Brian Kelleher and a decision over Chad Anheliger, followed by back-to-back stoppage losses. At 38 and training at Xtreme Couture, he is fighting to keep his roster spot against yet another hyped newcomer.
